Did this during my break from working on my resume and portfolio site. I wanted to see what Cave Story -- one of my favorite freeware PC/Mac games -- looked like on the PSP screen. Had a bit of fun with this one, but now it's back to work for me.
Yeah, I still have yet to beat it. I get my butt whipped by Ballos every time.
As for the PSP, I find it fun to play with. I only have two games for it right now, but that should change during the course of this year (from the release calendars I've been looking at, some really good stuff will be coming out later this year). As for the DS, I have the money to get one, but haven't had much time to go out and pick one up -- just too much to do around here. If all goes well, then maybe I'll be able to get one within the next couple weeks.
Yeah, the DS looks like it'd be cool to have. If not for the games, for the Pictochat.
In the Mac version, I have the Nemesis; in the PC version, the sword. I've seen Ballos get killed without the Spur, so I know it's possible. However, I usually don't last too long when I fight him so it's hard to memorize his patterns (the farthest I've gotten so far is just past his first form).
The Spur makes his first form easy (he moves, roughly, in a square, so you just have to jump a bit and then blast 'im), second part... jumpy crushy ball of hurt? This one is relatively easy, there's a ledge under his eye, jump onto it, equip the Super Rocket Launcher or the Spur (I use the rocket here) and fire like crazy. But I won't spoil it for you ^_^;;;
I haven't had much chance to use Pictochat yet but the games are great.
Thanks for that. I'll keep that in mind the next time I find the chance to play.
A couple of my friends have DSes and one let me borrow his DS for a bit. It was quite a bit of fun playing with the Pictochat program. We sent each other weird pictures and even weirder Japanese phrases between the two DSes for the better part of the hour we were at the nearby Denny's.
It's just an image. I did it while I was taking a break from what I was working on. I wish it were real, though, since that'd be pretty friggin' sweet.
I hear that Cave Story may be getting an official port to the PSP, but it's uncertain at the moment. No official/formal announcements have been made, so it's hard to say whether or not it'll happen. Right now, one can only hope that it does.
haha....Thanks for that, but I knew about it already. It really made waves at the LiveJournal Doukutsu Monogatari forum sometime during early summer. Some were for it and some were against it, but in the end everyone was curious as to how things would turn out.

Must say I hold no love for the PSP, though.

Do you have the Spur? It's *really* important if you want to take down Ballos (sadly if you don't have it you have to start over again...)

'Cause if that's the game actually being played on it I will find it very difficult to avoid buying a PSP in the near future. o_O
